Funeral Arrangements for Allan Scott Barth

We are saddened to report the death of Allan Scott Barth earlier this week. Many of you will remember him as the trumpeter at many Grace worship services over the years.  His memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Littleton and Rue Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Passing of Sally Galliger

With sadness, we report the passing forward of Sally Galliger.  Her health had been failing for several months now. 

There will be a graveside service for Sally at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26 in Ferncliff Cemetery.  Pastor Powell will be presiding.

Funeral Arrangements for Betty Barnes

Our sympathies are extended to the family and friends of Betty Barnes  She passed forward on Monday, February 15 after an extended illness.  Her visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Charity Auction canceled

This week we made the disappointing decision to cancel plans for the December auction.  We simply don't have enough time to pull off a meaningful event this year.  We would like to see this event -- or a version of it -- return for 2016.  Please see Pastor Tom if you have any interest in helping to make this happen.

Grand Re-Opening

We will hold a brief ribbon cutting ceremony immediately following Sunday School this weekend to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Grace library.  Bernice Stevens will have the honor of cutting the ribbon.  Be sure to stop by and visit the newly renovated library!

Funeral Services for Max McNeal

Max McNeal passed into eternity on Tuesday, October 6 following a prolonged battle with cancer.  His funeral arrangements are as follows:

• Visitation:  Thursday, October 8, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church
• Service:  Thursday, October 8, 2:30 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church

Following this service his body will be transported to Decatur, IN where a second visitation and service will be held, as follows:

• Visitation:  Saturday, October 10, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams Street
• Service:  Saturday, October 10, 12:00 p.m. at the same funeral home

Burial will be at the Decatur Cemetery.   Pastor Powell will be officiating at both services.

Funeral Arrangements for Darlene Zawada

Our sympathies are extended to the family of Darlene Zawada.  Darlene passed forward on Wednesday, September 30 after a long hospitalization.  Her memorial service will be held at Grace on Monday, October 5 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. that same day.

Our sympathies are extended to the family of Joann Rutan.  Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Conroy’s Funeral Home, Springfield, Ohio.  Visitation is an hour prior to the funeral.  Pastor Powell will preside over the service.

Memorial Service for Tom Allen

Our sympathies are extended to the family of Tom Allen.  Tom passed forward on Thursday, September 24 after a nearly year-long illness.  A memorial service will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Tony Mendenhall

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Tony Mendenhall on Wednesday morning, June 10.

Jon Joyce

Janet Buroker - Funeral arrangements

We are saddened to report that Janet Buroker passed forward on Sunday evening. 

Her funeral arrangements are as follows:

• Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.
• The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

A meal will immediately follow the funeral.  Following the meal, the family will proceed to the cemetery in Wilmington, OH.

Our friend Don Puckett passed forward on Saturday, March 28 at the age of 87.  Don's funeral arrangements are as follows:

• Visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.
• Service at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, also at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.  Pastor Powell will be officiating.

Donald E. Puckett, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the Kindred Hospital in Dayton. He was born on February 22, 1928 in Champaign County the son of Ralph E. and Ruth E. (Flath) Puckett.

He worked as a printer for Spring Print for over 30 years and before joining Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church he was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Don enjoyed playing dominos with "the Wild Bunch", hunting mushrooms, playing golf and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his daughter Dawne S. Puckett of Plain City, two sons: Kent K. Puckett of Springfield, and Brian T. Puckett of Plain City, two grandchildren: Matthew Puckett and Jeanna Puckett, two great grandchildren, Natalie and Logan, and one sister Marianna Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Verla Waugh and Joyce Helton.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where a celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Dan Powell officiating.

Harry Koch

It is with deeply sad hearts that we share this news.  Harry Koch, a long-time member of our congregation and father of former Grace treasurer Robyn Koch-Schumaker, passed forward this morning (Thursday, March 12) following a brief illness.

His visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.  A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.
